Anderson developed a new approach utilizing barges navigated through canals to access exposed wells.
Historical Well Decommissioning
In a safe position workers are able to decommission the exposed well and prevent future accidents to the environment or boats in the area.
Building upon the success and innovated design from the La Terre project, Anderson provided services for a similar project in the Vermilion Parish, of Louisiana. The fieldwork was carried out over a 20-day period during July 2011. Canal spud barges were prepared at a loading dock with the necessary equipment and crews. The barges were then navigated down a narrow channel until reaching the well site, which was heavily populated by American Alligators. The specially designed work platform was installed and the well casings were prepared to accept the BOP stack, which was then installed on the well. The top plug was then drilled out, down hole plugs tested, and a new top plug cemented according to local state rules. The work was executed without incident or injury.
