The LDS Tabernacle built before the coming of the railroad (1869), was constructed primarily of items and materials that could be obtained locally at the time. Recently, the LDS Church undertook a renovation of the building to upgrade the structure to current building code while maintaining the significant historical value of the building. The renovation of the building included the design and placement of steel trusses to reinforce the original timbers in the roof structure, the placement of new aluminum roof panels and reinforcement of supporting columns and braces.
